What to expect
You cross to the islands on bamboo rafts and walk forest trails among bamboo, evergreen trees, orchids and birds. It is a day visit only, with no overnight stays. Rafting and kayaking are extra.
Plan your visit
- Arrive in the morning; the cap is split between the two gates and can fill by noon in peak season.
- It is a plastic-free zone, and bags are checked.
- After heavy rain, confirm it is open before driving up.
Good to know
Kuruvadweep closed in 2024 after a fatal elephant attack near Pakkam and reopened with a lower daily cap. In 2025 it reopened after the monsoon in mid-September.
