Wayanad in three days

Days one and two follow our two-day plan. Day three gives you a choice: the Banasura side with a dam, waterfall and lakeside sundowner, or an early wildlife safari at Muthanga.

Days 1 and 2

Follow the two-day itinerary: Edakkal, Phantom Rock, Karapuzha and Nellarachal on day one; Chembra or Soochipara, Pookode, En Ooru and Lakkidi on day two.

Day 3, option A: the Banasura side

  1. 7:30 AM · Banasura hill trek (about 4 hours, guided, minimum age 11), or a gentler walk to the first tier of Meenmutty falls from 10 AM.
  2. 2 PM · Banasura Sagar Dam Boating on the reservoir; it is quieter late in the afternoon.
  3. Sunset · Tropics at Taj Wayanad A pool-side drink over the water (reserve ahead).

Day 3, option B: a wildlife morning

  1. 6–7 AM · Muthanga safari The first slot is the best for elephants; book online or arrive early.
  2. 10 AM · Breakfast in Sultan Bathery at Jubery or Cafe Corner House.
  3. Afternoon · rest at the estate, or visit Uravu for bamboo crafts.

Got a fourth day?

Go north for a long day: Kuruvadweep river islands in the morning (open roughly September to May), then Thirunelli temple and the Tholpetty afternoon safari.
