What to expect
Safaris use the outer zone of moist deciduous and semi-evergreen forest, with a lake that works as a watering hole. Elephants, gaur, deer, langurs and Malabar giant squirrels are common sightings, and leopards and sloth bears are possible. Kerala Tourism records more than 300 bird species in the sanctuary.
