Wayanad in two days

Two unhurried days from Coffee Haven: the Ambalavayal side on day one, the Meppadi and Vythiri side on day two. Each day keeps the driving short and the mornings early, when Wayanad is at its best.

Day 1: caves, rocks and a reservoir sunset

  1. 8:15 AM · Edakkal Caves Be there when it opens at 8:30 AM, before the daily cap fills. Closed on Mondays; on a Monday, swap days.
  2. 10:30 AM · Wayanad Heritage Museum 45 minutes of hero stones and tribal tools, a few minutes away in Ambalavayal.
  3. 1 PM · Lunch at Olan in Muttil, close to the estate, for a Kerala sadya.
  4. 3 PM · Phantom Rock A short trek to the skull-shaped rock on Cheengeri hill.
  5. 4:30 PM · Karapuzha Dam Gardens and the watchtower, 15 minutes from the farm.
  6. Sunset · Nellarachal Watch the light go down over the reservoir.

Day 2: waterfalls and the Vythiri side

  1. 7 AM · Chembra Peak (fit walkers) or 9 AM · Soochipara Waterfalls (easier). Both are near Meppadi and both cap daily numbers, so go early.
  2. 1 PM · Lunch at 1980's A Nostalgic Restaurant on the Kalpetta bypass.
  3. 3 PM · Pookode Lake A lakeside walk or a pedal boat.
  4. 4:15 PM · En Ooru The tribal heritage village on the hill above the lake.
  5. 5:30 PM · Lakkidi viewpoint and the Chain Tree Evening light over the ghat, then back to the estate.
