What to expect
The trail climbs through moist deciduous forest and grassland to huge boulders and caves at about 1,740 m. The caves shelter birds and bats, including edible-nest swiftlets. There is a watchtower on the way, narrow rocky stretches and a granite rock to climb at the end. The route crosses the Kerala–Karnataka border more than once.
Plan your visit
- Arrange the permit in advance; we can help you contact the forest office.
- Start at first light and be back before dark.
- Camping is not allowed.
- Summer fire risk can close the trail; confirm the status first.
